Education Outreach Program
The major objective of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society is to motivate and develop interest in astronomy within the Las Vegas area. As part of this effort, the Society has developed an Education Outreach Program (EOP) that works with area schools and organizations to promote and facilitate the understanding of astronomy and astronomical tools.

Upcoming Events
Thursday, July 22 Girls Church Camp
60 to 80 girls aged 12 to 18, camping up on Mt. Charleston. This is a summer camp associated with Rob's church. He and I brought out telescopes last year, but we could certainly use a couple more this year.
Tuesday, July 27 Omni Science Camp @Camp Lee Canyon
Approximately 80 kids, ages 8-12. We need someone to do a presentation, no specific subject request.
Saturday, July 31 Springs Preserve Solar Viewing
This is essentially an ad hoc Solar Observing session, for anyone who happens to be visiting the Springs Preserve. We will have some canopies for shade, where people can stop and talk about the sun and/or astronomy in general. We won't know until a few days before the event whether white light filters will be of any use, but everyone is welcome. |
